In the thick of a Slocan autumn, the children explored the shores of Carpenter Creek looking at the textures and colours of a variety of natural objects. They paid particular attention to the leaves, stalks and seed-heads of plants. Some of these were sketched with pastels, and some were collected for later use in the gelatin printing workshop.
